What's real and what isn't

The Mars HOA is a parody. Olympus Mons Estates is fictional. There is no real property, no real homeowners association, no deed with legal effect, and no actual plot of land on Mars — nobody can sell you Martian land; the Outer Space Treaty of 1967 saw you coming. What you're buying is a comedic correspondence subscription: your friend receives funny HOA letters by email.

Rusty the Rover is fictional. The Mars science in his letters is real and checked. He is not affiliated with NASA, JPL, or any actual spacecraft, all of whom have better things to do.

The $1/month is real. HOA dues are billed to the gift-giver through Stripe. Cancel anytime from your Stripe receipt; the letters stop at the end of the paid period. No refunds on a dollar, be serious.

Email, kids, and opting out

Letters from Mars are sent to the parent or guardian's inbox, addressed to the child by name. We never collect children's email addresses or send mail to children directly.

Every letter we send — HOA or rover — identifies itself and honors reply STOP: reply with STOP to any letter and that correspondence ends. HOA recipients can resign from the association this way regardless of what the gift-giver paid for.

Your data

We store what you give us: email addresses, the names you ask us to write to, and which page brought you here. We use it to send the letters you asked for and nothing else. We don't sell it, share it, or enrich it. Analytics on this site are self-hosted and cookie-less. To have your data deleted, email hello@marsfever.com and it's gone.

Liability, such as it is

Marsfever provides entertainment. We are not liable for domestic disputes caused by HOA enrollment, excessive interest in space acquired by minors, or Phobos, which is falling regardless of anything we do.
